this contains a premise that no one has really questioned. 
but i do.

do folks really beleive that making something know to WG 
chairs, ADs, and other 'significant people', is nearly the 
same as making it public?

i tend to beleive that if the NomCom is careful to request 
confidentiality most will keep that information 
confidential.  and even when there are leaks, and i admit 
there alwasy are, these are really nothing more the 
unconfirmed rumors.
