Subject: Re: DISCUSSION: rejecting candidates


Dave, I agree that we need to hear more voices. But I want to underline that
I believe that checks and balances *require* that the confirming body has the
ability to reject candidates. I quite agree that its primary function is
to verify due process but this is pointless without teeth.

I don't think my comment was ad hominem; it just seemed that the point 
wasn't getting through.
