Perhaps a bit of terminology bashing is in order.
I sense that you consider "sitefinder" to be the web-server based thing
that one reachs via port 80/tcp *after* the wildcard round has been
played.
I tend to use "sitefinder" in a broader sense to include the DNS
wildcarding as well.
Since "sitefinder" is overloaded, let's abandon that word for our
discussions and find words to describe the elements instead.
So perhaps we ought to establish some words for each part of the system.
Here's my list of elements:
DNS wildcarding (subsets might be defined for wildcarding when the
member names are and are not under control of the zone operator.)
Pseudo-servers
Web site that suggests
