Upon further thought, it occurs to me that politics may have reared 
its ugly head here.

If VeriSign commits to a technical solution to this problem, then 
presumably they have to make sure it will always work.  If they 
promise that, then the browser writers can easily use that solution 
to take (back) all of SiteFinder's customers.

I'm usually not this paranoid, but it does seem odd that we haven't 
seen an answer to the question yet.  Certainly Andrew is on the list 
and discussing other issues.
