A browser plugin. I'm bettin the mozilla team would be willing to add a 
"Verisign" search option if asked nicely enough (or better yet, if Verisign 
wrote the patch) and I'm sure an IE plugin could be written.

The browser plugin would not affect the DNS behaviour which would then not 
break anything and consumers could choose which search engine they'd like to 
use (choice... now there's a concept).
